Robert E. Pruitt

Robert E. Pruitt, Sr., 82, of Newark, Delaware passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 13, 2024. Born in Wilmington on May 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles and Mae (Lawrence) Pruitt.
Bob was employed as a spot welder with General Motors Corporation, having retired after more than 31 years of dedicated service. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, but his most favorite sports teams to watch included players from his own family (kids, grandkids, great grandkids, great-great grandkids). Family was everything to Bob and he had a way of making each one of us feel like his favorite.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara (Vari) Pruitt; his children, Robert E. Jr. (Vicki), Daniel (Karen), Barbara Boone (Roger), Christine Shinn (Chuck) and his daughter-in-law, Donna; as well as his 13 grandchildren (Deanna, Jennifer, Valerie, Tami, Jason, Sara, Sean, Joel, Nick, Jeffrey, Haley, Jessica and Erica) and Rob, 22 great grandchildren (Jordan, Jasmyne, Adri, Piper, Carley, Cameron, Jack, Cody, Brianna, Desiree, Kyleigh, Belle, JJ, Savannah, Jax, Nolan, Easton, Toby, Olivia, Makenna, Maverick and Kendall) and 4 great-great grandchildren (Juliet, Jaylin, Anthony and Lilianna). In addition, Bob is survived by his brother, Mark (Karen); his sisters, Irene Silver (Richard) and Judy Wronowicz.
He was predeceased by his son, Mark; his granddaughter, Kim; his great granddaughter, Taylor; and 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Wednesday, February 21 from 9:00 – 11:00AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM, immediately followed by interment in All Saints Cemetery.
