It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Lloyd Pullinger, 64, on March 26, 2025, after a valiant and arduous battle with cancer. For the past 20 years, he had lived in and around Seattle, Washington, and loved the area. However, due to his illness, he moved to
Virginia Beach, VA, in December 2024 to be close to family in Virginia and New Jersey.
Bob was born in Salem, NJ, on March 23, 1961, to Robert Samuel and Shirley Pullinger. He was the oldest of three siblings. After graduating from Lower Cape May Regional High School in 1980, he proceeded to lead an adventurous life. Based on his love of country, he followed in his father's footsteps and proudly joined the Coast Guard. Based on his belief that variety was the spice of life, he enjoyed the excitement of working in different fields after his Coast Guard service. His experiences included working for the Defense Logistics Agency; serving in the Army at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington; security; supply, the medical profession, and the gaming industry; after which he decided to try his hand at retirement, a vocation at which he excelled.
He had a great sense of humor and a hearty laugh. Like his family, he loved the ocean and enjoyed water-related activities, including fishing and crabbing. His adventurous spirit included a fondness for travel. Some of his other interests included animals, and he loved to tell stories about his beloved dog, Dash Man, who predeceased him; sports, chiefly football (Washington Commanders) and baseball; movies; television series, especially those involving mysteries and mysterious doings of all kinds; science fiction, especially Star Trek and Star Wars; and being a gamer. He was a spiritual person of faith who believed in God's plan for him.
He loved and was loved by many, but no one loved him more than his late paternal grandmother, Elizabeth "Becky" Pullinger. Among others too numerous to mention, these cherished family members and friends are left to hold dear his memory:
• His mother, Shirley Land Pullinger, of Cape May, NJ

Christopher Paschold and the extraordinary staff at Virginia Oncology Associates, as well as to the exceptional staff at the Brock Cancer Center and Medi Home Health and Hospice. Bob was immensely grateful for the extraordinary care and support he received and was always confident that his caregivers were providing the best advice and treatment.
Bob was proud to be a veteran and will be laid to rest at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. The family is holding a private service.
