Robert Joseph Quitter Sr.

CROSWELL- Robert Joseph Quitter, Sr., age 82, a resident of Warren and Croswell passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Mary's Center For Seniors in Clinton Township.
He was born on April 15, 1941 on the family farm just west of Croswell, which he still owns today. He attended the one room Jolley School on Peck Road and graduated from Cros-Lex High School in the Class of 1959. Robert enlisted in the United States Army in April of 1962. He was in the Air Defense System, known as the Nike- Hercules Missile Defense. He was discharged from the Army in April of 1965. In May of 1965 he got a Civil Service job with the Army National Guard Missile Site in Utica. Robert married Patricia Louise Tiller on July 25, 1967. In 1969 the Air Defense System was being dismantled so he was retrained to be an automotive technician, first with the 18 2nd Field Artillery and then with the 177 MP Brigade. Robert retired from Civil Service and the Army National Guard in May of 2001, after spending close to 40 years with the Civil Service and the United States Army. He was very proud to have served under ten seated presidents, starting with John F. Kennedy and ending with George W. Bush, Jr.
He is survived by his four children, Robert Joseph (Rebecca) Quitter, Jr. of East Pointe, Charles P. Quitter of Youngstown, NY, Deborah L. Quitter of Clinton Township and Patricia M. Quitter of Sterling Heights; three grandchildren, Robert Joseph Quitter III, Krisite L. Quitter and Steven D. Quitter; two great grandchildren, Cole Robert Quitter and Jackson James Quitter. his sister, Mary Guigar of Clifford and his brother, John (Evelyn) Quitter of Croswell.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia L. Quitter on March 26, 2003.
Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Friday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday at the funeral home, with visiting from 10-11 A.M. Fr. Donald J. Eppenbrock of the Ave Maria Parish-St. Denis Catholic Church in Lexington will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery in Croswell, with Military Rites provided by hte Croswell American Legion.
