Robert D Rasmussen, also known as "Bob," passed away on May 8th, 2023, surrounded by friends and family in Tooele, Utah. He was born on August 18, 1941 in Provo to his parents, James Frederick Rasmussen and Reva Draper who have since passed away. Bob was a beloved member of his community and had a career as Head Custodian for Timp View High School, Farr Junior High School and Sunset Elementary.
Bob's outgoing personality always left lasting impressions on anyone he met. He was always happy and talkative- making time for anyone that needed it. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing in rivers and lakes which he proudly taught to his sons. His love of travel knew no bounds and he always collected hats from different trips. Bob showed kindness at every opportunity, working as caretakers for both the Provo Tabernacle and Timp View High School.
Bob leaves behind his daughter Shelly Miller, son Michael Rasmussen and daughter Heather Payne to remember him fondly. 13 grandchildren will carry on Bob's legacy of hard work and kind personality.
An avid member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bob served as Bishop twice during his lifetime. It was also noted that he won many awards for outstanding care throughout his life.
There are many memories shared among friends and family members about Bob. He loved camping and the outdoors and being with family and friends, they explored old towns, mineshafts and pioneer settlements around the Intermountain west. True to his nature - he lifted everyone’s spirits during the trips.
Anyone who knew Bob will miss him dearly for all that he brought into their lives while here on Earth.
A viewing event will be held on May 20, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Provo 6th Ward, 835 S 500 W, Provo, Utah. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM that same day. Interment will be at the Eastlawn Memorial Hills Cemetery in Provo following the funeral.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rocky Mountain Care for their kindness and excellent care shown to Robert.
