In Loving Memory of Robert Dale Raymond

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Raymond, who departed this life just five days after his 77th birthday, following a courageous 12-year battle with multiple myeloma and amyloidosis. He began his fight with his first chemotherapy treatment on his birthday an act of quiet strength that defined the years that followed.

Robert dedicated 41 years of service to Ohio Power/AEP before retiring in July 2009. He also proudly served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Chicago, and was honorably discharged in June 1968.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nina Raymond married 49 years; daughters Sarah Hansen (John) and Katie Raymond (Willis); grandsons Levi and Carter Kuhn; and his sister Patricia Flanigan (Ray). He also leaves behind many nephews, cousins, and extended family members whom he deeply cherished. We hope he is reunited with his mother, Eva Wendling, and his father Robert Dwight Raymond, as well as Maggie "the best dog ever."

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate healthcare professionals who cared for him and helped make his final year one of comfort. Though he couldn't be at home, these caregivers made him feel as if he were at home. Special thanks to the staff at Rose Lane Nursing Home, Mercy Medical Center (especially the 7th floor), the VA Hospital in Cleveland, and Crossroads Hospice.

Dad loved his family fiercely. Caring for others was his pride and passion - whether it was changing light bulbs, giving car advice, researching home projects, or even worrying about the speed of a wheelchair so Mom could race to the mailbox after he was gone. These small acts were part of a lifetime of devotion and involvement.

He found joy in his daughters and grandsons, motorcycles, browsing for cars, watching The Andy Griffith Show, doting on his goofy grand-dog Cozzy, worrying about people, pretzels, new socks, the Dover Dam, and a good #14 pizza.

Calling hours will be held from 6–8 PM on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Rossi Family Funeral Home in Canton, Ohio. Funeral services will take place at 11 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2025, in the funeral home, followed by burial at Union Cemetery in Louisville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Amyloidosis Research Consortium or the Amyloidosis Foundation - these organizations are dedicated to researching cures and supporting patients affected by amyloidosis.

Dad always had many go-to sayings, but one of his favorites was, "You'll miss me when I'm gone." And in our grief and sadness, we know - he was right.
