Robert A. Rego, 75, of New Bedford died May 29, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Acushnet, son of the late Arthur M. Rego and Catherine (Devlin) Darmofal, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was formerly employed as a lineman with ComElectric and later was employed as a painter.
Robert was also an avid reader of history especially events and people of note from the New Bedford area.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Barbara Bettencourt of Dartmouth; his son, Kevin Rego and his wife Kristen of East Taunton and Grandsons Aiden and Alec; Barbara Bettencourt's family, Richard Bettencourt, Rodney Bettencourt, Sarah Bettencourt, Dylan Mello, Jasmine Bettencourt, Janae Bettencourt, and Jameson St. Gelais; a sister, Judith Rego of New Bedford.
His visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 19th from 4-7 PM with a prayer service during the visiting hours in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
