It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Mason Rego, who left us on July 1, 2025, at the tender age of 13. Born on July 28, 2011, in Fort Pierce, Florida, Mason's brief but impactful journey on this planet touched countless lives, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. He passed away in his home, surrounded by the love of his family.Mason was the beloved son of Cory and Katie Rego, a cherished older brother to Lilly, and a treasured grandson to Marc and Darleana Rego (affectionately known as Abuelo and Mim) and Manul and Angie Arnold (his Grampy and Grammy). He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, John and Wanda Reece, Oscar Rego, Albert Arnold and his cousins, Joseph and Danielle. Mason is survived by his loving parents, little sister, Lilly, and a sprawling family that includes his great great-grandmothers Gilda Rego, and Kate VanValien, great-grandparents Herb and Sandi, Tom and Laryane, Glenda Arnold as well as aunts and uncles Briana and Drew, Corbin and Courtney, Quinten, Kristen, and Miguel, among many great aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, all of whom he loved with his whole heart.Mason graduated Middle School from Angeline Academy of Innovation, where he demonstrated a passion for learning and a natural curiosity that endeared him to his teachers and peers alike. Those who knew Mason understood that he was much more than just a young boy; he was a gentle protector with a heart full of love and mischief. He had the unique ability to make everyone around him feel seen and welcomed, whether they were lifelong friends or strangers. As a big brother, he embraced his role with pride, fiercely protecting Lilly while also teasing her in the playful way only a big brother could. He understood the responsibilities and privileges of being an older sibling, and he executed it with love and care.Mason's adventurous spirit was complemented by his tenderness. He was always ready to try something new, eager to learn, and quick to share a laugh. He cherished family moments, whether it was helping his dad in the garage, proudly declaring himself the "second man of the house," or assisting his mom with daily chores-never needing to be asked, always ready to lend a hand. His comedic timing and endearing "fluffy" hair would brighten any room, and he loved nothing more than making others smile. He was a loyal companion in the kitchen to his Mim, where he took pride in contributing to holiday meals, affectionately calling her "Grandmama" when he wanted to charm her for a little extra. His time spent with his Abuelo instilled in him a sense of purpose and discipline that he carried with him throughout his young life.Mason possessed a remarkable ability to connect with others, often taking the time to learn about their passions and interests. From watching his Grampy tinker with motorcycles to sharing late-night movie nights with his Grammy, he embraced these experiences and created cherished memories.A funeral service to honor Mason's life will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10 AM at the Loyless Funeral Home, located at 5310 Land O'Lakes Blvd., Land O'Lakes, FL 34639. Mason may have left this world too soon, but the love he shared and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. His spirit will live on through the laughter of his friends and family, and the lessons of love, kindness, and curiosity that he imparted. May he rest in peace, knowing that he made this world a better place just by being in it.
