Robert A. Ribnek, known to all as Bob, embarked on his final adventure on December 27, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on March 7, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois, He passed away in Westmont, Illinois, with the same grace and humor that he carried through life.
Bob was the beloved husband of Mary (nee Boris), the cornerstone of his life and his partner in crime in all things humorous and heartfelt. He was the hero to his children, Lauren and Robert R. Ribnek, who inherited his wit and his knack for making the world a brighter place. His legacy continued with his treasured grandson, Tavarez Edwards, and his granddaughter, Baylee Allocco, who will no doubt inherit his ability to bring a smile to anyone's face.
He was the brother who shared a lifetime of laughter with Jamie Ivanic, Russ (and his wife, Juanita) Ribnek, and Deb (with her husband, Jim) Hudyma. Bob was also the coolest uncle to a slew of nieces and nephews. A friend to countless, Bob had the magical ability to make each of his friends feel like they were the best one he had.
Bob's life was a masterclass in not taking things too seriously-unless we're talking about his Green Bay Packers, or cheering on his grandson Tavarez at every football game with the fervor of a professional cheerleader. His love for sports was only matched by his love for family, fun, and the occasional well-crafted sarcastic comment.
"The Cottage" in Edgerton, Wisconsin, was Bob's slice of paradise, a place where the beer flowed as freely as the laughter and where he was the uncontested captain of his boat, his bar, and his bonfire. It was there, amidst the clinking of glasses and the glow of sunset, that Bob's spirit shone brightest.
Bob was the kind of guy who could build a house from the ground up with one hand while holding a beer in the other-his talents in electrical, carpentry, and fixing anything that dared to break were legendary. A true jack of all trades, he was the go-to guy to remove a load-bearing wall or to roll a hot tub down a flight of stairs, and he delivered every repair and remodel with a side of humor nobody could resist.
His approach to life was simple: party hard, love your family, and laugh at every chance you get. To say he was an all-around great guy would be an understatement. He was the handyman with a heart of gold, the funny friend you could always count on, and the friendly face in every crowd.
As we say goodbye to Bob, we remember a man whose life was as full as his personality was large. We'll miss his sarcasm, and the way he made every day feel like a celebration. Bob's legacy is one of joy, love, and the reminder to enjoy the heck out of every moment. So here's to Bob Ribnek, a man who lived, laughed, and loved like no other. The world is a little less bright without him, but we're all the better for having known him. Cheers to you, Bob-you were truly one of a kind.
In honor of Bob's incredible life, a memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S. Cass Ave., Darien.
