Robert "Bob" Rich

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Robert "Bob" Rich, who peacefully passed away on April 13, 2025 at the age of 86.
Born on December 7, 1938 in Winthrop, MA, Bob spent his youth growing up in Revere and Newton where playing and having a passion for sports took root. He graduated from Newton High School and Northeastern University. Shortly afterward he joined the Army, for which he was very proud to serve. He worked tirelessly to co-found and build a highly successful insurance brokerage firm, which he ran with his usual combination of drive, focus and passion for 30 years. He raised his family in Wellesley, MA and spent much of his free time coaching youth sports, where he positively impacted the lives of many, many young athletes. Most of all, he immensely cherished time spent with family and friends. His laughter, wisdom, and ability to make everyone feel special he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Shirley Cobb Rich of Weston, MA, with whom he raised three sons. He also leaves behind his long-time partner, Sophie Petronzio of Sarasota, FL. He is survived by his sons: Jeff (Jenn) Rich of Winchester, MA; David (Kim) Rich of Sarasota, FL; and Jason (Heather) Rich of Wellesley, MA. He was a devoted and loving grandfather to Zane, Katelyn, Philip, Sofia, Ethan and Molly. He will be missed by his treasured sister, Judy Block of Framingham, MA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Sybil.
Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance at the home of Jeff and Jen Rich, 22 Surrey Road, Winchester, MA on May 9, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 pm. In addition, there will be a remembrance at the Marina Bay pool in Longboat Key, FL on April 23, 2025 at 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to https://lighthouseeducationcenter.org/. Burial will take place privately, in a service at 9:45AM. May Robert's memory be a blessing to all those who knew and loved him.
