Robert Robbins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ottman Funeral Home - Cherry Valley on Mar. 8, 2026.
Robert George Robbins Sr. and Mary Ann Robbins passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026

in Fort Plain, New York.

Mary and Rob were married in October 1978 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in San Diego, and

they shared 47 years of marriage.

Robert George Robbins Sr.

June 13, 1947 - February 20, 2026

Robert George Robbins Sr. was born in Keene, New Hampshire to parents Lester Warren

Robbins and Sarah Robbins (Hawkes). Robert (Rob) grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire. He

had six siblings which included four brothers: Chub, Richard, Donald "Duck", and Fred, and two

sisters: Nancy and Barbara.

When he was a boy his brothers used to endearingly refer to him as "Rapid Robbins" because

he moved so slowly. He was a good student in school and especially enjoyed math. Robert

graduated from Nashua High School in 1965. After high school Robert joined the U.S. Air Force

on June 1,1966. He was stationed in Germany and served for 4 years.

Rob met Mary and they started their life together shortly after in San Diego, California. Rob

spent most of his adult career as an Inside Salesman working for San Diego Welders Supply

(now Westair Gases & Equipment). His passions for conversation and serving others were a

beautiful fit for that role that he served in for over 25 years. Prior to moving from Southern

California to New York, he also Managed Retirements Communities and was a Real Estate

Agent. In his final years he worked alongside his bride in their local community in Fort Plain

delivering groceries via Instacart. He loved this role! He enjoyed meeting new people, delivering

their groceries, and sharing the gospel.

During those years he came to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his life was forever

changed. He loved the scriptures and he read them faithfully every morning with Mary. He

served in ministry (and sometimes church leadership) with many of the churches he attended

including Horizon Christian Fellowship, Mission Valley Christian Fellowship, Oasis Christian

Fellowship, Shiloh Congregation and finally Messiah Congregation. Through the years he was

able to serve his local community by hosting a weekly home fellowship, serving in Men's,

Convalescent and Prison Ministries. Rob had a heart for people and evangelism. He wanted

everyone to know about the Hope he had in the Lord!

Mary Ann Robbins

May 18, 1949 - February 20, 2026

Mary Ann Robbins was born in Phoenix, Arizona on May 18, 1949 to George and Jacqueline

Walsh [Smith]. Mary grew up in Phoenix with her siblings Kathleen, Teresa, and Rebecca.

Mary was a happy child: Outgoing, fun loving, and always up for an adventure. She was the life

of the party as a teenager. Often in trouble with the strict nuns, she was a caring girl and always

had many friends. She volunteered in an old folks home, liked to dance, played the accordion

and was a competitive swimmer. She attended St. Gregory's grade school, and Bourgade High

School.

She met her first husband, Roger Lofstrom, a U. S. Navy sailor, in San Diego in the early

seventies. When he completed his service, she followed him to his home in New York. They

were married, had two children and spent some time in a residential Bible College. The

marriage ended, Mary and the children returned to San Diego. In San Diego she attended

Southwest Medical Assistant School.

During her life, Mary held several jobs. She was a medical assistant, Veteran's Coordinator at

the University of San Diego (where she spent the majority of her career), and managed several

Retirement Communities, and in retirement she worked for Instacart. Mary also spent several

years assisting her daughter Christine as the caretaker of her grandchildren so Christine could

go back to work. After that, she worked alongside Rob managing Retirement Communities in

Riverside County, by managing the office and HR. She was a perfect fit for this role since she

had a huge heart for people who were lonely, hurting and needed assistance. She loved people,

and people loved her!

Mary loved the Lord and served those around her. Her heart was big and everyone in her circle

knew they could count on her for loving support and a warm embrace. Mary served at every

church they attended. She served in following ministries throughout her years: Women's,

Children's, Youth, Marriage, and Convalescent.

Mary absolutely loved her role as grandma! Mary has 13 grandchildren and enjoyed spending

time with them. She was intentional about getting to know them and rooting them on with their

passions.

Rob and Mary are survived by their children: Kerry Connal (Lofstrom) and her husband Harry

Connal of Canajoharie, New York, Aaron Lofstrom of Fort Plain, New York, Christine Aguayo

(Robbins) and her husband Michael Aguayo Sr. of Leander, Texas, and Robert Robbins Jr. of

Fort Plain, New York. Also their 13 grandchildren: Michael Aguayo Jr., Blake Aguayo, Jacob

Robbins, Daniel Robbins, Alexis Aguayo, Sofia Connal, Jacob Connal, Natalia Connal, Keaton

Connal, Kristian Connal, Harleigh Connal, Autumn Connal and Lillie Connal. Also their siblings:

Kathleen Estey (Walsh) and her husband Melvin Estey, of San Diego, CA., Teresa Walsh and

her husband John Griffith of Hathaway Pines, California, Rebecca Wallace (Walsh) and

husband Rob Wallace of Baja California, brother Donald Robbins of Amherst, New Hampshire

(Rob's last surviving sibling), in addition to many nephews and nieces across the country.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date with close family and friends.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
