Robert Walton Weidman

Robert Walton Weidman, born May 12, 1929, in Cherry Valley, New York, passed away on February 1, 2026, at A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta, New York.

He was the son of Julia Emma Walton Weidman and Francis Guy Weidman, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his brother, Richard Guy Weidman, and his sister-in-law, Betsy Boorn Weidman.

Robert attended Worcester Central School and later SUCO in Oneonta, New York. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he devoted his professional life to healthcare at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York, where he established the Inhalation Therapy Department, leaving a lasting contribution to patient care and respiratory services.

Bob was a unique and very interesting individual, and he was loved by everyone who had the privilege of getting to know him. For most of his adult life, Bob had a beloved dog by his side, a companionship that brought him great comfort and joy and reflected his deep affection for animals.

He was a beloved uncle to niece, Bonny Deflandre, nephew, Timothy Weidman and his wife Hope, great nephew William Weidman and his wife Jennifer, and great-great nephews Liam and Connor Weidman. He was deeply cherished by his family for his love, dedication, integrity, and quiet strength.

His life was marked by service, curiosity, and care for others, and he will be remembered with respect, affection, and gratitude by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 32 Montgomery Street, Cherry Valley, NY on May 2, 2026, at 10:00 am followed by a committal service and burial in the Cherry Valley Cemetery.
