It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Gene Rolfe, a beloved husband, father and friend. Gene, born on March 15th, 1954, in Tooele, Utah, peacefully departed this world on January 9th, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Cedar City, Utah.
Gene was the eldest of 9 children born to Donald Dale Rolfe and Claire Rolfe. Gene's family was his pride and joy, and he carried that love throughout his life. He spent 47 extraordinary years with his beloved wife Sandy Rolfe. Together they adopted four children: Chase, Mari, Jana and Robert Jr.
Gene's compassion extended beyond his family; he loved to help people. He graduated from his nursing program at Westminster at the top of his class. Gene went on to work as a Registered Nurse until retiring in his early 60's. Before that, Gene tried and succeeded at many different hobbies and professions; from sales, to barbering and was even a nationally ranked racquetball player. He was also passionate about woodworking, and (of course) the Broncos.
Gene had many passions in life. He loved sports, and was an avid basketball player in his youth. As his children grew up, he instilled a love of sports in them as well, and was eager to coach their teams. He coached his children through basketball, baseball, softball, football, racquetball, and soccer. He coached many teams through championship seasons. Gene also ran marathons for many years of his life, and had a skill for rollerblading. He made fitness a priority and was a dedicated bodybuilder for several years. He was also an eagle scout, and went on to become a scout master.
Gene had a special relationship with his Heavenly Father. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. At 18, he was called to serve a mission. He answered the call and dutifully spread the gospel through Sacramento, California from 1973-1975. Gene had a strong testimony of both the church and his Savior. To many of us, he was a model of unconditional and Christ-like love.
As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary man, let us find comfort in the cherished memories we share of him, and remember him for the remarkable person he was.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Donald Dale, and two siblings- Karen Rolfe and Tim Rolfe. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy Rolfe; his four beautiful children- Chase, Mari, Jana and Robert Jr.; his mother, Claire Rolfe; and 6 siblings: Leslie Fletcher, Michael Rolfe, Patrick Rolfe, Don Rolfe, Kristy Taylor and Stephanie Roosendaal.
Services will be held on Wednesday, January 17th, 2024, at 290 West 1045 North, Cedar City, UT, 84721. The viewing will begin at 11 am and funeral services will begin at 12 pm.

My older brother Gene was always an early riser. He would get up so early in the morning and make a big pot of cream of rice or wheat or the occasional oatmeal that I still love dearly. By the time I made it out of bed the hot cereal and pretty much morphed into a giant lump. Not tasty, but not motive enough for me to get up any earlier than necessary. Being the early bird continued throughout his life and he was always the first in the morning to rub it in that I was getting old every birthday which for me fell on the 7th of January. This year I heard my phone ping on an early Sunday morning and thought for sure it was Gene razzing me again about my old age, but unfortunately it was dear Sandy, alerting me that Gene´s time was coming to a close and rather quickly. I think he timed his departure around my birthday on purpose lol as we were always very competitive with each other. I will never forget the blessing he gave me in my late teens one night when I was suffering from a very abscessed tooth. It was late in the night and I was in too much pain to sleep. Gene came home and saw me in distress. He anointed and blessed be and I felt absolutely no pain afterward and had the tooth fixed the next morning. Gene, I miss you terribly and would give anything to see you again, and even hear one of your dreadfully bad jokes!! Love you forever brother!

Gene´s last conversation with me was him telling me how much it meant to him that I asked him to walk me down the aisle at my wedding. Gene is the oldest boy and my father had already passed away. Gene took the role of giving me away with honor
This memory is forever with me. He loved me, and I loved him in the way a sister would. Gene would always say "your old, older brother loves you little sister ".
As a young lady he mentored me and loved me as I needed. For this I am grateful. I give it to God and pray for peace and healing for my mother Claire Rolfe, his wife, Sandy Rolfe and their children and grandchildren. Gene was a proud father and grandfather and he adored his wife and loved his mother dearly. He will be missed especially his corny laughter and really bad jokes
