Robert S. Rosen, 66, (b. 06/26/1959) of Ithaca, NY, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026 after a six-month battle with cancer. A devoted husband, father, son, and brother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Cindy; his daughter, Liz; his stepdaughters, Eliza, Kayla and her husband Ben, and granddaughter Macie; his brother, Steve; and his sister, Susan. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Goldy Rosen.
Rob was a builder -- working with Taitem Engineering for 20+ years to improve energy efficiency, leading the Ithaca Zoning Board of Appeals, contributing to local government as a member of the town board, and constantly fixing up properties in Ithaca. Rob liked to create comfortable spaces for his loved ones and build community.
Music brought him joy throughout his life. He never missed “Best of Broadway” on Sundays, enthusiastically sang along to 70s rock at karaoke nights with friends, and made time for live concerts whenever he could. No trip to New York City was complete without seeing a Broadway show. Rob loved traveling with his family, especially to warm beaches where he could surf or to cities rich with architecture and history. He had a lifelong fascination with trains; family vacations often included a stop at a local train yard, and his model train collection was legendary among those who knew him. At home, Rob found equal happiness in quiet evenings cuddling with his cat, Toast, or his grand-cat, Pinto Bean, watching television and enjoying the simple comfort of being together. He will be remembered for his steady optimism, gentle spirit, caring heart, and unwavering integrity.
A funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:00am at Temple Beth-El, 402 N. Tioga Street, Ithaca. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery and shiva at 12:00pm at 402 Warren Rd, Ithaca.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Tompkins County SPCA or Ithaca Area United Jewish Community in memory of Rob.
