Robert James Ross

Robert James Ross, also emphatically known as B. Ross, RR, and Mr. Fantastic, peacefully departed this earthly realm at the age of 50, on the 2nd of October 2023. He was in the comforting presence of his loving family, as he transitioned to join the eternal embrace of God. Robert was born on May 05, 1973, at Cooper Hospital in Camden, New Jersey to Robert James Martin (deceased) and Yvonne Renee Ross.  

 

He completed his early education at Red Bank 11 and West Deptford Middle School, and later attended Woodbury High School, where he made the decision to conclude his secondary education. In 1998, Robert earned his GED, which stands as a testament to his unwavering commitment to learning. Robert furthered his education at Atlantic County Crest Community College, where he successfully achieved his culinary degree. Following this accomplishment, he embarked on a distinguished career as a Chef, notably contributing his culinary expertise at Show Boat Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  Most recently, he was enrolled in Arizona State University's online program, diligently working towards the attainment of his bachelor’s degree. Anyone who knew Robert well recognized him as a hustler. His name would ring bells wherever he stepped foot, especially on Hopkins Street in Woodbury, where he earned the nickname 'Billy Hopkins.' It was his hustling skills that made for an easy transition into Kirby. Robert was an unparalleled maestro as an independent Kirby salesman, he possessed an unmatched skillset, breathing life into each demonstration and making every sale an unforgettable experience. He was widely recognized within the Golden State Division, where he etched his name into history by setting unmatched records in sales and recruitment during the period from 2003 to 2019. Robert devoted himself to his family and others when he came home. Whether it was a good morning beautiful text, smoking a cigarette and drinking coffee together, sharing Bible verses, making you a home cooked meal, trips to Target, or telling everyone that he was saved by God’s Grace. He often volunteered at the Macedonia Baptist Church with his beloved favorite cousin Rhonda Ross-Hunter in his free time to give back to the community.  No matter the interaction you had with him, you know one thing and it was that he loved you and cared for you deeply. Robert's caring nature extended far beyond his hustling persona. He had an unwavering love for his family, and there was nothing he wouldn't do to protect and provide for them. His dedication and commitment to their well-being were truly remarkable, leaving a profound impact on those who knew him best. As we reflect on his life, it's clear that Robert's absence will be deeply felt, and his love and protection will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones.

 

Robert is survived by a multitude of cherished family members; his children, Robert James Ross Jr., Simiyha Justice Ross-Carter, Daysjaun Matthew Ross, Ja’Heim Jayden Ross, and Jalyssa Jaime Ross Princess. His three beloved grandchildren: London Ross, Desmond Ross, and Madisyn Ballard. His surviving relatives extend to his mother, Yvonne Renee Ross Cowan (Tamir), his stepfather, James H. Benton, and his siblings, James R. Ross (Teresa), Robert A. Bishop (Teresa), Yvonne R. Burnett (Leslie), and Joshua L. Burnett (Tatiana). Additionally, he leaves behind three cherished nieces and five nephews who will fondly remember their uncle and his enduring love. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends.
