Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James and Altonia Runkles, brother Joseph Runkles, and sister Gwendolyn Boatwright.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Debra Runkles, son & wife, Robert Jr & Ashley Runkles, daughter & husband Dennis & Patricia Jarnigan, Grandchildren Emilee Runkles, Courtney Runkles (Glenn Caldwell), Corey Runkles, Andrew Runkles, Dazey Green-Runkles, Tyler Powell, Lauren Powell, Dillon Jarnigan, Jordan Long (Shawn) & Great-Granddaughter Lydia Queener. He was also eagerly anticipating the arrival of a new great-granddaughter, Hazelee. Brother and wife Curtis and Deborah Runkles and many special nieces & nephews. Special extended family, Dan and Gayle Harvey, Sara and Taylor Bowling, Megan Elliott, Kelsey Myers, and Kaylen Buttrum.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 pm, with services immediately following at Covenant Life Church in Clinton, with John Lawson, Tony McAfee, and Chris Lane officiating. His graveside will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Grandview Memorial Garden. The family wishes to extend their gratefulness for the kindness and love shown by Robert's many special caretakers.
