Robert Lynn "Bob" Sain

Dr. Robert "Bob" Lynn Sain, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2025, surrounded by family. Born July 27, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee, Bob lived a life dedicated to healing others and building meaningful connections with all who knew him.
Robert received his early education at Phillips Exeter Academy before attending Tulane University. He continued his academic journey at the University of Tennessee Memphis, where he earned his medical degree in 1967. He completed his training in general surgery at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta, establishing the foundation for his medical career.
Following his education, Bob proudly served his country as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy at Cherry Point Naval Hospital in North Carolina. His commitment to service extended beyond his military duties into his professional life as a dedicated surgeon.
In 1975, Dr. Sain established his private practice in general and vascular surgery in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he devoted himself to patient care for decades. His skilled hands and compassionate heart touched countless lives throughout his distinguished medical career.
Bob was an avid bridge player, winning numerous tournaments and finding joy in the strategy and camaraderie of the game.
Bob is survived by his sons, Robert Sain of Bozeman, Montana and Charles Sain of Atlanta, Georgia, his beloved grandchildren, Arlo, Fred, and James Sain, who will carry on his legacy and cherish his memory, his two sisters, Kay Greve and Jeanene Feinstone and his brother, Michael Sain.
Bob's dedication to medicine, his love for his family, and his passion for life will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but his impact on our lives will never be forgotten.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Rose Mann Funeral Home, 6200 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN on Saturday, May 3rd at 12:30 in the afternoon. A reception will follow at 2PM at Cherokee Country Club.
