Robert "Bob" Salzer

Robert "Bob" Salzer, 90, of East Peoria, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2026 at his home.

He was born January 7, 1936 in Weldon to the late Trevelyn and Margaret Edwards Salzer. He married Marilyn L. Wageman on June 22, 1957 in Peoria; she preceded him

in death on January 24, 2016.

Surviving are his children, Mark (Sheila) Salzer, Gary (Lisa) Salzer, Denise (Dave) Schwenk, Eric (Heather) Salzer, and Diane (Dave) Ogg; eleven grandchildren; eleven

great-grandchildren; brother, Phillip (Nancy) Salzer; and sister-in-law, Barb Salzer. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Salzer; and his siblings, Sheila, Richard, and John Salzer.

Bob was a crane operator for Local #649, retiring in 1999 after 43 years. Two of his more notable builds were Peoria's Twin Towers and the Murray Baker Bridge, but he worked on many other projects professionally and was always willing to share his skills with others. He was an avid Cardinals fan, loved working word puzzles, and enjoyed exercising at Eastside Center. Bob's faith was the foundation of his life. He served his church, supported charitable causes, lead Bible studies, and always found time to read God's word for himself. Bob cherished his family; they were all very special to him and he loved spending time with them.

A funeral service will be held at 11am Friday, January 30, 2026 at Bay View Baptist Church in Washington, where he had been a longtime member. Pastor Brian Currier will officiate. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
