Robert "Bobby" Schelling

SCHELLING - Robert "Bobby" Schelling, 26, a resident of Alexandria, VA passed away unexpectedly in Albuquerque Saturday, August 28, 2010. He is survived by his parents, Warren and Carol Schelling of Third Lake, IL; sister, Beth Schelling of Albuquerque; brother, Chris Schelling and wife, Amy of El Cerrito, CA; niece, Emily Schelling; nephew Cal Schelling; grandfather, Leonard Brcka of Iowa City, IA; and numerous other relatives and friends. Bobby was born in Watertown, WI on January 9, 1984 and graduated from Sandia Prep in Albuquerque in 2002 where he was a seven time state swimming champion and three time High School All-American Swimmer . He then attended Syracuse University, on a swimming scholarship, where he received his BS in History and Political Science. He had a passion for politics and his work, which he carried with him throughout his entire life. After graduation Bobby achieved his first dream by working in Congress through the office of New Mexico Congressional Representative Steve Pearce from 2002 through 2008 as a legislative aide. He then went to work for The Vision Council, in Alexandria, VA, as the Senior Political Analyst. Bobby loved his family and friends and his family and friends loved him. He had an amazing sense of humor and a love for movies and music, and especially sharing them with his family and friends. Bobby had a great gift for doing impressions of people, which kept us laughing. Bobby was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Friends and family may visit French - Wyoming Chapel, Wednesday, September 1, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Community, 12500 Carmel NE, Thursday, September 2, 2010, 10:00 a.m. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bobby’s name to The Better Vision Institute, 1700 Diagonal Rd., Alexandria, VA 22314.
