Robert L. Schroeder

Robert "Bob" Lee Schroeder, 86, of Helenville, passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2025.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held on September 27, 2025 from 12pm-4pm at the Farmington Town Hall (N6468 S. Farmington Road, Watertown, WI 53094).

Bob was born on May 31, 1939, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Howard "Hub" and Inga (Hanson) Schroeder. On December 18, 1982, he was united in marriage to Sandra "Sandy" Goetz. He dedicated more than 30 years of his career as a purchaser for Eaton Corporation and later held a similar role at Lenard in Lake Mills.

Bob's life was deeply rooted in the outdoors. Each spring brought turkey hunts in southwestern Wisconsin, where Bob made lasting memories with his son, grandson, and friends. He also looked forward to the opening of fishing season at Moose Lake, WI, where pursuing walleyes became a tradition shared with hunting partners and friends. Bob had a lifelong love of trout fishing as well, often seeking out quiet streams where he could enjoy the stillness of nature. Come fall, he returned for deer camp at Moose Lake, where the crisp mornings, long days in the woods, and evenings filled with laughter and stories became traditions as enduring as the friendships they fostered. Known for his great sense of humor and quick wit, Bob brought joy and laughter to those around him. He passed along not just his skills, but also his deep respect for wildlife and the land, shaping the way others experienced the outdoors. Beyond hunting and fishing, his love for capturing life's moments through photography gave him a way to preserve the beauty he found in nature and in everyday life. With camera in hand and a keen eye for detail, Bob ensured that those memories lived on long after the moment had passed.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Schroeder; children, Mary "Dee" (Stuart) Haenel of Watertown, WI, Laurie (Dennis) Hoeft of Cherry Hill, NJ, Craig (Tina) Schroeder of Mauston, WI, Terri (Scott) Gehrke of Prescott, WI, and Jody (Monica) Gehrke of Jefferson, WI; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren; along with other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard "Hub" and Inga Schroeder, and his sister, Mercia (Steve) Andrews.
