Robert Allison Searles, 95, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. He was born September 26, 1929, to the late Arthur Balfour Searles and Annie Searles. Robert grew up in the small coastal town of Lubec, Maine and graduated from Lubec High School. Shortly after graduation he was drafted into the US Army. In 1952 he married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Greenlaw, before his deployment to Korea. After his two year deployment, he and his wife moved to Connecticut where they began their family of three children, Randall, Annette and Kathy. While raising a family and working full-time, he attended Hartford Electronic School of Engineering. He worked for many years at the Hartford Board of Education as an audio/visual technician. Robert loved photography, playing the piano and writing. He also served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. After retirement he and Joanne moved to Maryland, where he also served in his local church, Faith Baptist Church of Salisbury, Maryland. He is survived by his children, Randall Searles, Annette Berglind (Steve) and Kathy Seffinga. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne, his parents, and a grandchild. A celebration of Robert's life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 11:00 am at Faith Baptist Church on Dagsboro Road in Salisbury, where a visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Mr. Searles to Faith Baptist Church, 30505 Dagsboro Rd, Salisbury, MD 21804, as a tribute to his longtime commitment to his church. Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.shortfh.com.
