Robert Sherman

Marengo-Robert Steven Sherman was born February 1, 1964, in Maynard, Iowa, the son of Wayne and Joyce (Breitsprecher) Sherman. He graduated from West Central High School in Maynard, Iowa, where he excelled in football. Robert grew up in Maynard, moved to Amana, Arizona, and made his home in Iowa County. He worked at S&S Flooring, American Color Graphics, and most recently was a waiter at J.A. Casa Magnolia in Marengo. Robert enjoyed watching sports, horses, fishing, having a good time with his friends, and most importantly, spending time with his grandchildren. Robert died Friday, March 6, 2026, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 62 years. 

He is survived by his daughters, Taylor Griess- Sherman (Gerald Long) of Amana, and Kennadie Sherman of Oelwein; grandchildren, Chloe, Caelan, Carly, Jaxon, Hendrix and Rance; mother Joyce Sherman of Maynard; siblings, Randy (Sheryl) Sherman of Maynard, Rex (Kim) Sherman of Fayette, Rory (Tracy) Sherman of Maynard, and Roxanne (Al) Fink of Randalia; and special friend Julie Buswell of Marengo. He was preceded in death by his father and Marie Griess (mother of Taylor).

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 4:00–7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the J.A. Casa Magnolia Restaurant in Marengo. In lieu of flowers a general memorial fund has been established to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
