Amanda L. Barnell

Amanda Lynn (Papesh) Barnell, age 42, of Victor, passed away Monday, February 16, 2026, at the University of Iowa Hospital following a short illness.

Amanda was born to Duane and Virginia (VanScoyoc) Papesh. She lived most of her life in Belle Plaine. Amanda worked as a CNA at the nursing home in Belle Plaine for many years. She was recognized as a mentor and an amazing care giver. Amanda was a bubbly, kind, wild child. Her greatest gifts in life were her boys Jordan, Jacob and Jaxon.

Amanda is survived by her children, Jordan Sanders 16, Jacob Sanders 14 and Jaxon Sanders 11; her brother Damian Papesh; many aunts, uncles, cousins and so many other people who loved her. Amanda also loved her little dog Bear. Bear chose Amanda and he was her comfort towards the end of her life. She also leaves behind her boyfriend Tim Harriman and her best friend Niah Seaborn. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Amanda struggled with her health for most of her life. She was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at a young age. She was treated for cancer off and on for several years. Amanda remained her bubbly and fun self even during the worst days. She will be missed by so many people who will always love her.
