Robert Dennis Shoaf, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on November 29, 2025, at the age of 79 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on March 6, 1946, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to the late William Glenn and Alice Bertha Shoaf. Robert's life was a testament to his loving, kind, and intelligent nature.
Robert's journey began in the heart of Pennsylvania, where his academic pursuits led him to the American Institute of Baking in Chicago, where he honed his skills and passion for the baking industry. Furthering his education, he attended Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, setting the stage for a successful career that would span decades.
In his professional life, Robert was known for his dedication and expertise. As the retired Senior V.P. at Krispy Kreme, he ensured that every doughnut was not just a treat but a work of perfection. His entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as he became an Arby's Inc. franchise owner, where he applied his knowledge and warmth to serve the community.
Robert's heart was truly revealed in his love for his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Paulette Smith Shoaf, and their loving children, Jennifer Shoaf Teller and her husband Eric, and Ryan D. Shoaf, Sr. and his wife Allison. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren, Abigail Kay Teller, Aidan Samuel Teller, Reilly Marie Teller, Braden Lucas Teller, Bryce Scott Teller, Dylan Noelle Shoaf, Donna Marie Shoaf, Ryan Douglas Shoaf Jr., Raymond Bear Shoaf, and Samantha Jane Shoaf, who will carry forward his spirit of generosity and love. He is also survived by his older brother, Glenn William Shoaf and his wife Janet.
An avid golfer, Robert could often be found on the greens, relishing the game and the company of fellow enthusiasts. His love for fishing and boating spoke of a man who cherished the serenity of nature and the thrill of the catch. A sports fan at heart, he enjoyed the excitement of the game, whether watching from the stands or the comfort of his home. His passion for cars was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and innovation.
Robert's kindness extended beyond his human connections to all living creatures. His love for animals was profound, and he found joy in the company of his pets.
As we remember Robert Dennis Shoaf, we celebrate a life beautifully lived, and his spirit remains a guiding light for all who had the privilege of knowing him.
