Robert "Bob" Christian Shober Jr. (Captain US Army, Retired) passed on to eternal life on September 30, 2025 at his home in Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend to many.
Bob, also known as Bobby, to his immediate family and close friends, was born November 20, 1950 in Kingston, New York to Robert C. Shober Sr. and Genevieve Shober (DePew). He was one of four children. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister Sharon Coppock (Kenny) of Frankfort, Indiana. He is survived by two siblings: Darlinda Shober of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Joe Shober Sr. (Carol) of Terre Haute, Indiana.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda L. Wienecke-Shober, whom he married on September 7, 1982. Together, they have created many wonderful memories filled with love, laughter, and family.
He is survived by seven children, two beloved foster children, 17 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was a graduate of Indiana State University (BS Nursing). He was selected to participate in the US Army Anesthesiology Nurse Program from which he graduated in 1978. He was a retired CRNA and Captain with the United States Army, serving for 14 years.
Bobby served as an active member, dedicated volunteer, and proud Board Member with the Children of the Americas (COTA). He participated in several mission trips to Guatemala, fostered children, organized essential supplies, and used his skills to help perform hundreds of life-changing surgeries in Guatemala and the US. Helping the children and families of those in need of medical assistance was one of his passions and he devoted his talent to help shape their lives for a better future.
Bobby was deeply involved with the Boy Scouts of America, helping mentor scouts on their paths to personal growth, and leadership.
Cremation is planned with Ebensberger Fisher Funeral Home, Boerne. Burial with full military honors will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on January 2, 2026 at 10:30 am CST.
