Robert Smith Obituary

Visit the Menke Funeral & Cremation Center - Sun City website to view the full obituary.

Bob Smith, a beloved husband, father, and servant of God, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, in Sun City, Arizona, surrounded by family. Born in 1938 in Panama, he lived a life of purpose, faith, and adventure, leaving an enduring legacy in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

For 30 years, Bob was the devoted husband of Irene Smith, his cherished partner in a life filled with unforgettable adventures and cherished memories. Together, they built a home rich in love and laughter. For many years, they successfully owned and managed a thriving coffee plantation in Panama, pouring their passion and dedication into cultivating a legacy rooted in the land of Bob's birthplace. As a father, he was a guiding light to his children, Stacy, Devon, and Shelley, instilling in them values of compassion, integrity, and faith.

A devout Christian, Bob was deeply involved in the church, where he was ordained and tirelessly served. His commitment to Christ's work shone through his volunteerism, touching the lives of hundreds, if not thousands, through his support for numerous charitable causes. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, reflected in his membership with the Gideons International, where he shared the Word of God with unwavering dedication.

Bob was a proud Mason, embodying the principles of brotherhood and service. His professional life was equally distinguished, having served as a police officer in Phoenix, a United States Air Force Veteran, and a dedicated volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol. His passion for service was matched by his enthusiasm for life's joys, including motorcycles, airplanes, and classic Chris-Craft wooden boats. He was an active member of the Smart Car Club, where he connected with others who shared his love for unique vehicles.

Bob carried with him a spirit of exploration and a deep appreciation for community, having lived in New Mexico for his high school years, Phoenix as a young man, and California before settling as a full-time resident in Sun City, Arizona. His warmth, generosity, humor, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Irene; his children, Stacy (Chris), Devon (Kellie), and Shelley; his 4 grandchildren, Kaylin, Jamie, Camerin, and Sydney; a great-grandchild, Harper; and a wide circle of friends and loved ones who will forever hold his memory close.

A Celebration of his life will be held at Bellevue Heights Church, on Friday, September 26, 2025, beginning at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bush Telegraph Mission, as Bob served as Chairman of the Board for 5 years. Donations may also be made to Gideons International and Bellevue Heights Church.

Rest in peace, Robert "Bob" Smith. Your light will continue to shine in the lives you touched.
