Robert Gerard Springer

November 17, 1939 - April 15, 2025

At the age of 85, Robert Gerard Springer died in Laramie, Wyoming on April 15th, 2025. Tax day. Which he probably thought was funny. Humor was very important to him. Bob used humor to soften the sharpest edges of life and to brighten the days of those he cherished. He also delighted in making a stranger smile with an unexpected act of kindness or a funny observation.

Bob was wise without arrogance and appreciated the beauty in life, particularly the beauty of wild places. He loved small things like wildflowers and hummingbirds. Equally, he loved the majesty of the Sierras and the Redwoods. He loved Native American art and Chinese poetry. He loved his neighbor's dog, Monk. He loved ice cream. Bob was a brilliant man, always learning, thinking and seeking. In his lifetime he read thousands of books. He was inspired by Buddhism, Jazz, Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, and his family. For each one us, he was our greatest champion. There are not sufficient words in any language to express how deeply he is missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Springer, his step-daughter Leslie Bomentre, his step-son, John Elder, and his younger brother, Steve Springer. Bob is survived by his sisters, Susi Brust and Gerry Rostenbach. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Larisa Beasly, son-in-law, Robert D. Beasley, and his daughter Misty Springer. Additionally, he is survived by his granddaughter, Kristin Beasley, grandson, Robert M. Beasley and great-grandson, Robert Anderson Beasley.
