Robert "Bob" James Stanley, age 78, of McKean, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with the IPF lung disease (his lungs were donated toward research). Born in Artesia, CA on December 8, 1946, a son of the late Kenneth Stanley and Gwenona Rowena (Stonehocker) Stanley Couch. Bob lived a life defined by honor, service, and unwavering dedication to his country and family.
Bob was a proud United States Navy Vietnam veteran serving aboard the USS Forrestal CVA 59. After 24 years of military service, Bob retired as a Sergeant First Class in the PA Army National Guard. He rose to the rank of Scout Platoon Sergeant earning the respect of his fellow servicemembers for his leadership, integrity, and commitment to duty. Additionally, he spent 29 years at Erie Forge & Steel and 9 years with Team Industrial Services as an NDT Technician.
Bob was a lifetime member of VFW Post 740 and a member of the American Legion Post 742, and the McKean Ushers Club. He loved spending time outdoors with his farm, hunting, and playing golf.
Above all, Bob was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished time with his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marilyn (Andrzejczak) Stanley and their sons Kenneth (Tracy) of McKean, Daryl (Amber) of Girard and Justin (Nicole) of Negley, OH, and 7 grandchildren: Alexis, Gabriella, Reagan, Parker, Hazel, Allison and Natalie. He is further survived by his brothers Danny (Diane) of Oak Hills, CA and Randy (Tamara) of Apple Valley, CA; his sisters-in-law Jean (Richard) Zack and Deborah Stanton and brother-in-law Donald Andrzejczak all of Erie and dozens of nieces, nephews and extended family, who will forever carry forward his legacy of strength, kindness, and honor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gary, sister-in-law Carol (Andrzejczak) Duke, brother-in-law Scott Stanton, and in-laws Robert and Rose (Gaerttner) Andrzejczak. Friends may call on the family at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 12-4 pm. A memorial and full military honors will be held afterwards at 4pm.
