Robert Dean Starbird (Bird), our beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Uncle, passed away on August 1, 2025 due to complications from Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia at the age of 70. Robert was born in Glasgow Montana on May28,1955 to Myrna and Robert Starbird. At the age of 10 his family moved to Las Vegas. He graduated from Western High School in 1973 where he excelled in basketball and football and earned a football scholarship to UNLV. He graduated from UNLV with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, however, before starting his first teaching job he was hired by the Clark County Fire Department completing 34 years of service until his retirement in 2015.

In 1978 he married Karen (Kate) as he called her and had 47 wonderful years of marriage. They welcomed sons Robert, Jared and Joshua to complete their family. Family and friends were his life. When he wasn’t running his kids to every sport practice or game or any other family event, you could find him at the 4 Kegs having a cold Coors light. His 3 sons were his greatest accomplishment and he loved them so very much. He was able to enjoy his two Grandchildren, Jace and Rylie and always there to take them to school, soccer and for ice cream. In addition to that he was so very proud to be inducted into the UNLV Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the 1974 football team and the Western High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Bird touched so many lives and made friends wherever he went. It was almost certain that wherever he went in this town or any other town in the US, he would run into someone who knew him. Bird was always there to help anyone in need. He was big in stature and big in his heart.

He is survived by his wife Karen, sons Robert (Rachel), Jared (Alexa), and Joshua, Grandchildren Jace and Rylie Starbird, sister Vicky Vitale, any many other in laws, nieces and nephews. Bird was preceded in death by his father Robert, mother Myrna, and brothers Donald and Ronald Starbird. His is at rest with the Lord and his memories will be with us here always.
