Robert Eugene Stewart, 66, of Hendersonville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 25, 2025, in Spotsylvania, VA.
Born in Spotsylvania, Robert graduated from Spotsylvania High School in 1977. A lifelong football fan, he especially loved cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Virginia Tech and attending games whenever he could. He also enjoyed the beauty of the mountains and wildlife, but his greatest joy was found in time spent with his grandchildren, whom he treasured dearly.
Robert worked at Bookcrafters in
Fredericksburg, VA for over 25 years before his career took him to Chelsea, MI, and later Luzerne, PA. He eventually settled in Hendersonville, TN, to be closer to his son and grandchildren. Earlier this year, he retired from Americolor, where he served as Bindery Manager. He was admired by colleagues and friends alike and will be remembered for his dedication and kind spirit.
Robert is survived by his wife, Cheryl "Mama" Corbin Stewart; son Christopher "Buddy" Stewart; grandchildren Matthew "Squirrel" Stewart and wife Summer "Squirrellet" Stewart, Taylor "Peanut" Stewart, and Isabella "Half-Pint" Stewart; great-grandson Legend "Little Squirrel" Stewart; siblings Stacy "Goofy" Stewart, Karen "Sweetie" Seay and husband Allen "Puden" Seay, and James "Jaybo" Stewart and wife Rina Stewart; aunt Bobbie Schaaf; nephews Brian Tipton and Wayne "Skeeball" Stewart; and niece Sabrina "Bina" Seay. He also leaves behind many of his good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James "Jimmy" Stewart and Gladys Victoria "Vickie" Taylor Stewart; as well as his faithful dog, Murphy.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Hendersonville, Tennessee at a later date.
