Obituary published on Legacy.com by Harley Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. on Jan. 12, 2026.
Robert S Suggs, 85, of Greenwood, husband of Shirley Ann Bearden Suggs, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at Hospice House.

Born in Charleston, he was the son of the late Leon and Emma LaRue Carter Suggs. He grew up in Abbeville and enjoyed attending his high school reunion each year. Robert proudly served in the South Carolina National Guard, where he demonstrated his commitment to his country and community. He worked for over 30 years with Monsanto before his retirement. Outside of work, Robert found great joy in fishing, often spending his days by the water. He was a proud member of Mathews Lodge #358 for over 40 years and had the honor of receiving the Master Mason designation, reflecting his commitment to the values of brotherhood, charity, and truth.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Hattie Belle Carter; sister, Diane Simpson and her husband Homer; and a sister-in-law, Linda Suggs.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Mike Suggs; brother, Marion Suggs; grandchildren, Lauren Suggs Bell (David) and Andrew Suggs (Erica); great grandchildren, Merick Suggs, Luke Suggs, Luci Suggs and Brayden Allen; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family, Mike Carroll, Jacob Carroll, Lisa and family.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 12-1 pm.
