With heartfelt sorrow and a celebration of a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Robert James Sumski, who left this world on September 1, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on March 31, 1961, in Summit, New Jersey, Robert's journey through life was one filled with dedication, love, and steadfast courage.

Robert spent many enriched years as a detective in the bustling heart of New York City, where her unwavering commitment to justice and integrity left an indelible mark on all those she encountered. After decades of distinguished service, she retired and spent her remaining years surrounded by friends and family in Leland, North Carolina.

Robert was predeceased by her beloved parents, Stanley Sumski and Madeline Dowling Sumski. She is survived by a family who adored her boundlessly: her loving wife, Debby Sumski; her two cherished daughters, Dierdre Sumski-Leary and Ann Marie Sumski; her devoted brother Stephen Sumski and his wife Melissa; her caring sister Janice Martin and her husband Dan; and her devoted sisters-in-law, Lisa Rosamilia and her husband Ken, and Donna Rosamilia. Their lives have been deeply touched by her kindness and perennial strength.

A celebration of Robert's inspiring life was held on September 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Bridge Presbyterian Church.

As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we hold her legacy close, her life a testament to perseverance and love.
