Born in Wakefield, RI, he was the son of the late Louis and Stephanie (Krawlzyk) Sunderland.
Robert worked as a chemical operator for Pfizer for many years. He was an avid card player, especially Pitch in the Monday Night League. Bob also enjoyed yard work, walking his beloved dog, Simba, and was known as a New England sports' fan; he loved watching the Bruins, Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.
He will be dearly missed by his three sons, Robert L. Sunderland, Jr. and wife Kim of Charlestown, Scott A. Sunderland and wife Donna of Ashaway, and Todd A. Sunderland of Griswold, CT; five grandchildren, Matthew, Robbie, Easton, Sean and Colin; and his brother Richard Sunderland of Westerly; one great-grandchild, Foster, and several nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by three siblings, David Sunderland, William Sunderland, and Lucy Cucca.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, Spruce St., Westerly is in charge of the arrangements. For online condolences please visit www.gaffneydolanfuneralhome.com
