Robert Paul Taitz

Robert Paul Taitz passed away on November 25, 2024 at the age of 100. He was loved and will be dearly missed.
Bob was a Norfolk native, graduating from Maury High School where he played baseball and basketball. At age 18 he met Annie Mae Tatem and married her six months later. They laughed, danced, and took care of each other for 70 years until she passed in 2013. He "missed that lady" for the rest of his life.
Bob worked his way through college, graduating from RPI (VCU) and his beloved UVA. It was rare to see him without his Virginia cap. He became a teacher, director of elementary education, and elementary school principal. He encouraged and mentored many as a career educator in Virginia.
Bob's early love of sports and activity never wavered. Exercise was a constant in his life, as he enjoyed running and biking and continued to be a regular at the Norfolk YMCA until he was 94.
Bob was a loving father and grandfather. He is survived by daughters Betty Taitz and Paula Naquin (Jim), grandchildren Daniel Naquin (Melissa) and Ashley N. Stolz (Michael), and four great-grandchildren. In addition to Mae, Bob was predeceased by his granddaughter Sharon Gish Heiden, his parents and siblings.
A private graveside service will be held.
