Robert Tanner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ferreira Funeral Services (Macclenny) on Jan. 23, 2026.
Robert "Bob" Lee Tanner, 69, of Glen Saint Mary, Florida, passed away on January 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on December 29, 1956, in Heidelberg, Germany, Bob was the son of Major Cecil Tanner and Margaret Haringer Tanner. He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Karen Jackson. Raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Bob built a life grounded in hard work, loyalty, and dedication to those he loved.

He graduated from Edward H. White High School and later studied at Florida State College at Jacksonville and Florida State University in Tallahassee. In his twenties, Bob proudly served several years in the United States Air Force, reflecting his strong sense of duty and commitment to service.

Bob spent most of his career in the auto parts industry and was especially proud of his years managing NAPA Auto Parts in Greenville, Florida. Known for his reliability, knowledge, and willingness to help others, he earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and embracing a quieter pace of life.

Above all else, Bob cherished his family and his loyal dogs, Boomer, Spanky, and Ellie, who brought him constant companionship and joy.

He is survived by his daughter, Lindsay Tanner of Tallahassee, Florida; his grandsons, Preston Bilotto and Levi Bilotto; his brother, Alan Tanner Sr.; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.

This tribute was lovingly prepared by Bob's family. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V. TODD FERREIRA FUNERAL SERVICES, 250 North Lowder Street, Macclenny, FL 32063 (904) 259-5700. Visit www.ferreirafuneralservices.com to sign the family's guest book.
