Robert "Bobby" Arnold Thatcher, 80, of Clovis, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him most. Born on July 5, 1945, in Clovis. Bobby lived his entire life in the community he cherished - a town he served with quiet dedication and deep love.He was the son of Charlie and Althea Thatcher, and from an early age, Bobby's life was shaped by humility, strength, and a steadfast devotion to his faith, family, and work.Bobby spent his career as a conductor with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad, making countless trips between Clovis and Belen. He retired after many years of faithful service. A longtime member of Kingswood Methodist Church, Bobby's gentle spirit and servant's heart left a lasting impact on all who knew him. He was also an active part of the Emmaus Community, where he faithfully served and encouraged others in their walk with Christ.

He married the love of his life, Sissy Thatcher, on June 4, 1965, and together they shared 60 years of marriage built on faith, laughter, and unwavering love. Bobby adored Sissy with a devotion that reflected Christ's love for the church - steadfast, sacrificial, and enduring. Their marriage was a true testimony of faith and commitment, and his deep love for her was evident to all who knew them. Bobby is survived by his beloved wife, Sissy; two sons, Ty Thatcher (Teri) and Dean Thatcher (Shannon); and his sister, Joyce Pelton.Bobby was a devoted grandfather to Bailee Brewer (Joel), McKenzee Curtis (Chad), Dalton Thatcher (Kyli), Montana Thatcher, Morgan Thatcher, and Talan Thatcher. His grandkids absolutely adored him - he was their hero, their steady hand, their biggest encourager, and the source of so much laughter and love. Whether he was cracking jokes, sharing stories, or just quietly sitting with them, his presence made them feel seen, safe, and deeply loved.

He was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Stetson Thatcher and Jettson Brewer. Though Alzheimer's had begun to take hold by the time they were born, Bobby's gentle spirit still shone through. Even in the midst of memory loss, he offered quiet moments of connection - with a smile, a wave, or a warm hand - that left lasting impressions on the next generation.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Althea and Charlie Thatcher; his sister, Eileen Jensen; and his brothers, Dutch Thatcher and Larry Thatcher. Bobby found joy in life's simple pleasures - woodworking, gardening, and most of all, time spent with family. He was the rock of our family - a man of quiet faith who led by example, always putting others before himself. His steady presence, compassionate heart, and unconditional love will be missed more than words can express.

Though he carried himself with humility and grace, Bobby had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people laugh - especially when he was with his grandkids. His playful spirit, quick wit, and warm smile will live on in the memories of everyone who loved him.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service celebrating Bobby's life on Friday, September 5th, at Kingswood Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m., with a graveside committal immediately after.

Bobby was a friend of my Dad's and he would speak of him often and quite fondly. They both worked at BNSF together for many years. We would often hear about the times they would go for their daily walk or even how he introduced my father for his love of apple fritters. A vice my father now shares in lol but for me, myself, my most cherished part he brought to my life was a little faded red Nissan Pulsar. It was an older car with the sweetest lights that would lift when when you turned them on! It was my own little personal claim to fame My dad got what little tlc it needed done along with a pink paint job and because of them I felt like any girl getting her 1st car should, LOVED! I came here to share with his loved ones our memories and to know he was a great man who definitely was cherished. From myself Apollonia and my father Bernard Baca his friendship with my father went so much further than just there, he blessed other generations as well. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you today and everyday you feel the pain of losing him.
