Robert Charles Thayer

Robert Charles Thayer, 54, of Avoca, Michigan, passed away on April 7, 2025.
He was born on January 31, 1971, in Detroit, Michigan, Robert lived a life full of passion, purpose, and love for his family and community.
On July 25, 1990, Robert married the love of his life, Chrystal, in Marine City. Together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, and cherished memories.
A man of many interests and talents, Robert found joy in the great outdoors-hunting, fishing, golfing, boating and spending time up north. He was equally at home in the kitchen, known for his love of cooking and feeding those he cared about. Farming was another passion, where he put his strong work ethic to use with pride He also enjoyed coaching his children's sports teams.
Those who knew Robert knew him as a hard worker, stubborn to a fault, and someone who never gave up-on anything or anyone. He would give the shirt off his back and was always just a phone call away, ready to help with anything, big or small.
Above all, Robert was a devoted husband, loving father, proud papa, cherished son, and loyal brother. His impact on those around him will be felt for generations to come, and he will be remembered for his big heart, generous spirit, and the countless lives he touched.
Robert is survived by his wife, Chrystal of 34 cherished years; children, Paige (Casey) Nickerson and Aidia Thayer; grandchildren, Eloise and Audrey Nickerson; mother and step-father, Patricia and Russell Bourlier; siblings, Tammy (Keith) Marriott and Sandy (Greg Whipple) Thayer; mother and father-in-law, Jacquelyn and Robert Erdmann; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tara (Alan Skocy) Erdmann, Robert Erdmann and Brian (Selena) Erdmann; nieces and nephews, Emma, Hunter, Fisher, Tanner, Ember, Tyler, Russell, Zachary, Tristen, Mikel, Angel, Tylor, Colin, Joshua, and Amberly.
The family honors the memory of Robert and invites you to visit and share memories on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond. Funeral Service will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
