Robert Eloi "Bob" Theriot

Robert Eloi Theriot, 89, of Beaumont passed away in his sleep on October 3, 2025. He was born on August 1, 1936, in Greggton/Longview, Texas. His parents were Thomas Hayden Theriot and Willie Mae Theriot of Sour Lake, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Tanya Kelly Williams and her husband, Andrew, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; son, Devin Scott Theriot and his wife, Shannon, of Kingwood, Texas; grandsons, Cameron and Grant Theriot of Conroe, Texas; brother-in-law, Lee Williams of College Station; sister-in-law, Joyce Theriot of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert is proceeded in death by his parents, Willie Mae Theriot and Thomas Hayden Theriot; brother, Thomas Theriot; and sister, Ruth Williams.

Robert moved with his family from Longview to Sour Lake when he was two years old. He grew up in Sour Lake and attended school there and graduated in 1956. After graduation, he joined the Army and served for two years before being honorably discharged. He returned to Sour Lake where he met and married his wife, Phyllis.

He worked in the oilfield for a short while and then in the Appliance repair business while attending LIT and earning an AAS Degree. He then went to work for the USPS which he retired from in 2004.

During his life, he served twelve years as a board member for HJISD. He coached Little Dribblers basketball and Little League Baseball. He was an active member of N.W. Church of Christ in Beaumont. After retiring, he volunteered at the Alma Carpenter Library in Sour Lake and also served on the Board of the Hardin County Historical Commission.

Robert was a dedicated walker and biked around Sour Lake for many years. Robert spent many happy days enjoying his grandsons. Watching them as they grew up and played in sports. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had an amazing laugh and a love of life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
