Robert J. "Bob" Thorbecke

Robert "Bob" J. Thorbecke, 73, of Ft. Branch, Indiana, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2025, at home peacefully.
Bob was born in Evansville, Indiana on November 29, 1952, to the late James and Elnora (Kuhr) Thorbecke. Bob worked as a painter, welder, and in auto body most of his life. He had a passion for restoring old cars. He particularly loved his 1968 panel truck and 1970 Chevelle. Bob always made sure his wife, Patty, had the best vehicles. Bob was always mechanically inclined. He was an extremely skilled craftsman, excellent woodworker, and enjoyed restoring antique furniture. Whenever Bob did something, he did it to perfection. Once retired, Bob found joy in watching his grandchildren. He loved giving them mower rides, playing in the water, telling stories, or just watching them be kids. In his free time, Bob enjoyed mowing the yard, sitting around a fire, and kicking back in his recliner to watch TV. He always knew how to have a good time. Bob's smile and caring spirit will always be remembered.
Bob is survived by his wife, Patricia (Becker) Thorbecke; sons, Jason Thorbecke (Nikki), Adam Thorbecke (Billie), and Luke Thorbecke (Ashlee); brothers, Jim Thorbecke (Nancy), Ron Thorbecke (Denise), and Tim Thorbecke; grandchildren, Carter, Nori, Nolan, Zoe, Levi, and Andrew Thorbecke; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Steve Clayton officiating.
Friends may visit from 12:00 noon until service time on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Browning Funeral Home.
