Robert Thorpe

Robert Thorpe, 85, of Texhoma passed away Friday, December 12, 2025 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

The son of Wilbur Ernest and Opal Donna (Bentzinger) Thorpe, he was born February 18, 1940 near Bridgeport, Nebraska. The family moved to Sidney, Nebraska when he was young and he attended school there. He served in the Nebraska National Guard and then joined the U.S. Army, receiving his honorable discharge in January 1965.

Robert had been a resident of Texhoma for the past 35+ years. He had worked as a truck driver for Haliburton. He had also delivered newspapers for the Daily Oklahoman and Amarillo Globe News in the Guymon, Goodwell and Texhoma communities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Anna Morgan, daughter, Sunday Huff and dear friend, Audrey Hamilton.

Survivors include his special friends, LaNetta Montgomery of Spearman, Texas and Tom and Elizabeth Hackler of Texhoma, Texas; his twin sister, Roberta Thorpe of Loveland, Colorado; four sons: Louis, Wilbur, Robert and Michael Thorpe; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his beloved dogs, Coco and Princess.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, December 17th at 2:00 p.m. at the Texhoma Cemetery with Pastor Tom House of the St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating.
