Robert E. “Bob” Torgerson, 89, of Humboldt, passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 16, 2023, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 28, 1933 in Rutland, Iowa, the son of Oscar T. and Ora G. (Lansing) Torgerson. He was raised and educated in the Rutland area and graduated from Bode High School. Bob was united in marriage to Marilyn Edwards on October 9, 1955. The couple made their home in Humboldt and later Hampton for 37 years before returning to Humboldt. He worked for 45 years for the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Humboldt and Franklin Counties, retiring in 2009. He was a member of the Soil Conservation Commission, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, many church boards, served as an usher and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Meals from the Heartland.
Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marilyn of Humboldt, his children Jeff Torgerson of Sprit Lake, Michelle (Mark) Smith of Eldora, Iowa, Mark Torgerson of Hampton and David (Lisa) Torgerson of Ankeny, his grandchildren Brandon Torgerson, Andy (Kim) Smith, Kyle (Amanda) Smith, Dakota (Katie) Torgerson and Billy (Lexi) Torgerson, his great-grandchildren Savannah & Uriah, his brother Alan (Smoky) Torgerson of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mavis Hemmestad, Marvis Baessler, Joyce Behounek and his brothers Gary, Wayne and Don Torgerson.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21st at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral & Cremation Service of Humboldt is in charge of the arrangements. www.masonlindhart.com
