Robert Smythe (Smitty) VanSickle of Grove City, Ohio passed away on May 14, 2025. He was born in Cardington, Ohio, on September 17, 1939, to Robert W. and Mary Faye (McMillen) VanSickle.
He graduated from OSU in 1957 with a BA from the School of Agriculture.
He married his loving wife Mary Jane (MJ) on April 16, 1977.
Smitty was a good friend and neighbor. He was loved by many. He was a twenty-year member of the Jolly Pirate early morning breakfast club.
Smitty is preceded in death by his parents and his son Kristopher W. VanSickle.
He is survived by his wife, his son: R Scott (Wanda) VanSickle; step-sons: Mark W. (Lisa) Lalik, Sean M. (Herb) Lalik, Steven M. (Maria) Lalik; brother: Craig (Sonia) VanSickle; sisters: Veda (Bob) Williams, Dorothy (Larry) Thomas; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 10:30am at Trinity Episcopal Church at Capitol Square. A lunch reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society.
