Robert "Sonny" Vargas
Robert "Sonny" Vargas, age 80, of Purdy, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at his home in Purdy.
He was born May 25, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was united in marriage to Carol (Gardner) Vargas on February 17, 1967, in Kansas City, Kansas. They enjoyed 57 years of memories together. He retired from Deluxe Corporation in 2004.
In his early life, he enjoyed building fast cars and spending time at the drag strip. He had a natural talent for woodworking and craftsmanship. Sonny also had an immense passion for animals. He loved riding horses and covered many miles of trails with his wife, Carol.
He also enjoyed showing halter and pleasure horses. A few of his other hobbies were hunting and fishing and competing in archery.
He was a proud member of Wheaton Southern Baptist Church.
Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home; one son, Robert Vargas Jr and his wife Kelly, of Rogers, Arkansas; one daughter, Angie Parks, of Purdy, Missouri; Five grandchildren: MaKayla, Dalton and his wife Elaina; Collin Rey and his Fiancé Alexys, Austin and Reilly; Four Great Grandchildren; Julia, Michael, Liam and Lydia; one sister, Irene Potter, of Sylvania, Missouri, two brothers, Gilbert Vargas and wife Roberta, of Porum, Oklahoma, and Ray Vargas of Bonner Springs, KS.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosemary (Daniels) Vargas, and his brother, Tony Vargas.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, December 27,2024, visitation from 11-12:30 then a short service immediately following at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church 11676 State Hwy 86 Wheaton, MO with Rev. Paul Wahlert officiating.
Arrangements are made under the direction of White Funeral Home and Crematory in Cassville, Missouri.
