Robert Vaught Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel - Bonham on Dec. 18, 2025.
Robert Charles "Bobby" Vaught, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 21, 1944, in Bonham, Texas, Bobby dedicated his life to serving his community and his family.
He married his beloved wife, Peggy, on September 4, 1964, in Bonham, and together they built a life filled with love and devotion. Bobby served as a deacon at Northside Church of Christ for over 60 years, exemplifying his faith and commitment to his church community. His career as a letter carrier for USPS spanned more than 35 years, where he was known for his work ethic and warm smile.
Bobby is fondly remembered for his many passions, including his love of the outdoors, his enthusiasm for firearms, and his pride in being an OU fan. Bobby enjoyed using his lawn mower to mow the lawns of others, and he could often be found on his John Deere tractor, hauling hay, mowing pastures, or smoothing driveways. He found joy in life's simple pleasures and especially cherished the moments spent sharing stories and laughter with his family.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents J.D. and Olivia Vaught, and brother Jim Vaught.
He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Vaught of Bonham; daughter, Lecia Malone and husband Larry of Denison; son, John Vaught and wife Charlsie of Bonham; grandchildren, J.D. Malone, Madeleine Malone, Katherine Vaught, and Maggie Vaught; brother, Mike Vaught and wife Linda of Bonham, nieces Cheryl Vaught, Suzanne Vaught, and Kristel (Vaught) Jech and husband Clint. Bobby will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
The visitation for Bobby will be held at Northside Church of Christ on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Willow Wild Cemetery following the service.
