Billy Capehart Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel - Bonham on Feb. 1, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Billy Ray Capehart, who left us on January 30, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on February 26, 1944, Billy devoted his life to his family, sharing his love and warmth with everyone around him. He married his beloved wife Madaline Capehart (Donohoe) in Bonham on December 21, 1963.

Billy dedicated many years to his work as a maintenance technician at Rockwell Industries, where his reliability and hardworking spirit were appreciated by colleagues and friends alike. Outside of work, Billy was a passionate man who enjoyed woodworking, auto painting, and working in his garden.

A devoted father and grandfather, Billy took pleasure in taking his kids and grandkids fishing, always eager to share the thrill of the catch. Fridays were particularly special as he would spoil his grandchildren with king-sized candy, pizza, and movie nights, creating lasting memories that will forever warm their hearts.

We invite family and friends to celebrate Billy's life in a visitation on February 4, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home in Bonham. A funeral service will be held in honor of his legacy on February 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Living Word Church of God in Bonham with Dwayne Evors officiating, with internment following at Fannin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Tony Lee, Roy Osborne, Michael Capehart, Greg Sadler, Audie Mosley, and Sean Rencher, Honorary Pallbearer, Tim Sadler.

Billy is survived by his wife Madaline Capehart; daughter Justine Gantt; son Jonathan Capehart; grandchildren Addison Capehart, Tristan Reeves, and Lauren Foreman; and great-grandchildren Chad Reeves, Harlow Reeves, Riley Reeves, Lyla Foreman, and Kayce Foreman. He is also survived by his brother, Ronnie Capehart.
