Obituary For Robert Roy Vincent

Robert Roy "Bob" Vincent, 84, of Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, after many health struggles.

Bob was born on May 29, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio, to John and Marie (Virtue) Vincent, both of whom preceded him in death.

He dedicated much of his life to Christian ministry through The Salvation Army. Bob attended The Salvation Army Seminary from 1961 to 1963 as part of the Servants of Christ session. He served as an officer in the National Capital/Virginia Division until the 1970s, and later in the Texas Division, leaving officership around 1980.

Following his service in full-time ministry, Bob served for ten years as a District Executive with the Boy Scouts of America. He later returned to work with The Salvation Army at the Houston Area Command as Assistant to the Area Commander, Major Henry Gonzales. During that time, he played a key role in raising capital funds to construct two new buildings and renovate several others. Major Gonzales considered Bob a great friend and invaluable coworker whose dedication helped strengthen and expand The Salvation Army's mission in Houston.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Vincent; his first wife, Gloria (Gilliam) Graham, and his son, John Vincent.

He is survived by his wife, Debby (Hall) Vincent; his children, David Vincent, Reneé Bien, and Sharon Vincent; his stepson, Billy Friday; ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Carole Fourt.

Those who knew Bob remember his deep love for learning and teaching the Bible, his sharp and joyful sense of humor, and his unwavering integrity.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., both at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas, officiated by Major Tex Ellis. A graveside service will follow at 3pm at Howard Cemetery in Desdemona, TX, officiated by Major Jerry Friday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army of Sherman, Texas.

Bob's life was a testimony of faithful service, and he has now been promoted to Glory, alongside the Lord he loved and served so well. His legacy of faith, service, and love will continue to guide all who knew him.
