Robert H. Voelcker

1934 - 2024

Robert H. Voelcker, age 90, of Utica and formerly of Lee, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024. The son of the late Otto and Ethel (Niles) Voelcker, he was born in Ilion, NY on February 16, 1934. After graduating from Ilion High School, and attending Utica College, Robert then enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 10,1954, attending Officers Training School. On June 27, 1959, he was united in marriage to Alexandra Marie Hussak and proudly served his country for 20 years. On April 30, 1974, Major Robert Voelcker was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force and entered civilian life.

He went on to complete his bachelor's degree from SUNY IT. From there he was employed by The Equitable Insurance Co., Mcloughlin Motors and Canterbury Press. Bob was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Woods Valley Ski Club, the Military Officers Association of America and the Lee American Legion, and through his Air Force career and after, visited all 50 States and over 38 countries.

Bob is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Philip Wilhelm and Catherine and Steven DeFazio; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Sarah Voelcker; a son-in-law, Martin J Rath and Leslie Rath; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Eric and Aimee Wilhelm, Veronica, Morgan and Casey DeFazio, Madison Voelcker, and Kellin and Jessika Rath; and many, loved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Alexandra Marie, daughter, Karen Lee Rath; and a sister, Betty V. Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church in Lee Center. Interment will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, Hamburg, NY.
