Robert Mark Voyles Obituary
Robert Mark Voyles, 89, entered eternity on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at his home in Jeffersonville, Indiana, surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late William and Hazel (Fessel) Voyles on February 15,1935.
Robert honorably served his country in the National Guard from 1954 to 1962. Afterward, he retired as a railroad engineer from General Electric, where he made significant contributions throughout his career.
A devoted member of St. John Paul II Catholic Church for over 30 years, Robert's faith and dedication to his community were hallmarks of his life.
Robert was a talented handyman. The love of his life, Laura cannot recall a single instance when they needed to call a repairman or mechanic. Together, Robert and Laura built their own home, brick by brick, which has withstood the test of time. His exceptional problem-solving skills and wealth of hands-on knowledge were always at the service of others. Robert enjoyed sharing his expertise with anyone willing to learn and was always there to lend a hand with relatives' cars and homes. He took great joy in building special birdhouses for Martins, adding to the beauty of his surroundings.
In recognition of his dedication to helping others in his community, Robert was awarded the title of Kentucky Colonel, a testament to his generosity and community spirit.
Robert's presence will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his kindness, expertise, and generous spirit. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Maxine, Pauline, Gerald, Marcella, Wilma, Joseph and Bernie
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Laura Voyles of Jeffersonville, his son, Robert Voyles, Jr. (Tammy) of Hillard, Ohio, his daughters, Jacqueline Tengi (Matthew) of Riverdale, New Jersey, Jane Voyles of Sellersburg, Gloria Priest (Kit) of Midlothian, Virginia, his brother, Bill Voyles of Clarksville, his sisters, Mary Strait (Jack) of Muskegon, Michigan, Margie Conn of Jeffersonville and his grandchildren, Dr. Alex Rollo (Rosa), Gary Bonner (Kimberly), Shelby Kilic (Oguzhan), CPT Peter Tengi, Taylor Hall (Charles), Robert Voyles III, Jacob Tengi, Nicholas Voyles, Wyatt Campbell, Luke Priest and Eli Priest. Robert also leaves 5 great- grandchildren to cherish his legacy, Sylas, Oliver, Eleanor, Emine and Cecil.

Uncle Bob taught me many of the woodworking, mechanical, electrical and winemaking skills that I get so much credit for today. He will always hold a special place in my heart.
