Robert Watts Obituary
March 26, 1932 - December 30, 2023
Biloxi, Mississippi - Robert "Big Bobby" T. Watts Sr., 91, of Biloxi passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 30, 2023.
He was born in Seminary, MS on March 26, 1932 to John Robert Watts and Helen Lott Watts.
He graduated from Purvis High School in 1949 before starting at Mississippi State University where he began studying Electrical Engineering.
Big Bobby was in the National Guard and served for 2 years before receiving an Honorable Discharge. Later, he began working at Mississippi Power Company and decided to relocate to Biloxi, MS. He then married his high school sweetheart, Irene Morrow, on December 19, 1953 and they made Biloxi their life long home. Together, they raised their 4 children. After 40 years of service, he retired from the power company. Big Bobby was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed endless hours of saltwater fishing around the Barrier Islands of the MS sound as well as enjoying many summers at their fishing camp at Poticaw in Vancleave, MS. He also hunted whenever and wherever he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 36 years, Irene.
Big Bobby is survived by his children, Lisa (Dr. Joel) Burwell, Gina (Mark) Wack, Dr. Robert T.
(Kathy) Watts Jr., and Laurie Watts; 5 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 5, 2024 at the Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home. Friends are invited to visit at 9:30 am. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Purvis, MS.
