Robert John Weimer Sr., 93, who resided at the Renaissance community located in Manchester Township, N.J., passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick. Born and raised in Jersey City, Robert moved to Maplewood with his first wife, Dorothy Fallon Weimer, where they raised their family of five children, and their many beloved pets. After Dorothy's passing, Robert found love again with his wife, Teresa (Terry) Caldwell Weimer. In 2004, they moved to Manchester Township to enjoy their retirement years together.
Robert worked as a dedicated service manager at Correct Temp in Kenilworth for 25 years, retiring in 1996. Known as a problem solver and mechanical genius, he had an innate ability to fix anything, a skill he proudly passed on to his children. A proud veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, Robert was also an active member of the Renaissance Raconteurs singing group, where he shared his love of music with others. Known for his captivating storytelling, Robert had a talent for drawing in friends and family with his anecdotes and humor.
He had a passion for playing cards with friends, bocce, and cheering on his favorite teams, the New York Giants and New York Yankees. Robert also loved some of his favorites treats such as English sherbet lemon candies, caramels, Dairy Queen Blizzards, and chocolate cream pie. He also enjoyed pickling, making his infamous Bloody Mary's and preparing his signature sauerbraten for family gatherings. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family, including holiday celebrations.
Robert's greatest gift, however, was his unconditional love. He never judged but was always there unselfishly for anyone who needed him most. For Robert, it was about lifting up anyone in need and being a source of support and comfort. His love was a constant presence in the lives of his family and friends, offering strength and guidance without ever asking for anything in return.
Robert was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Fallon Weimer, with whom he shared 29 years of marriage, and his brother, William Weimer Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Teresa Caldwell Weimer, and his children: Dorothy and Michael Bagley, Robert J. Weimer Jr. and Ruta Pastore, John and Siu Weimer, Paul and Randi Weimer, and Charles and Heather Weimer. He was a proud grandfather to Dorothy Lynn and Danny, Melissa and Chris, Kristina and Dain, Robert, Erin, Emily, Zoë, and Elijah, and great-grandfather to Anya, Max, Mason, Skyelar, and Kaiya.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Oliverie Funeral Home, 2925 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, N.J. A Funeral Liturgy will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Church in Toms River, N.J. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association, PO Box 10188 #37214, Newark, NJ 07101, or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, IL.

I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Papa Robert. Please know that my thoughts are with the entire family during this difficult time. Papa Robert was a wonderful and caring grandfather to Kristina and Robert and I know that they have memories that they will cherish as do I. (especially our camping trip)
Take good care,
Monica Wortsmann
