Robert D. Werstler

Robert Dale "Bob" Werstler of North Canton, Ohio passed away at home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce; three children: Dana (Robert Thompson ) Werstler of Hazard, Kentucky, Robert J. (Wan-Xin) Werstler of McLean, Virginia and Todd (Jennifer) Werstler of Bexley, Ohio; and five grandchildren, Daniel Thompson, Vivian Werstler, Ally Werstler, John Werstler and David Werstler.
Bob was born in Canton, Ohio to the late Florin and Maureen (Hines) Werstler on June 3, 1934. He spent the first years of his life in Cadiz, Ohio and moved to Canton in 1945. After graduating from Middlebranch High School in 1952, he served in the US Navy and the Navy Reserve and then returned to Canton. In 1959 he married Joyce Boord.
Bob spent his life in the Canton area. His career spanned seven decades, beginning as a plumber with Porter plumbing and then Kaughman plumbing. Bob realized his professional dream of becoming an entrepreneur when he launched Werstler Plumbing and Supply in Richville Ohio in 1971. He then started Bob Werstler's Ace Hardware and plumbing in North Canton in 1976. In 1995 Bob co-founded Tower Industries in Massillon with his son Todd.
Bob guided and loved his children and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He served God and his community. His sense of humor brought laughter to his family and friends. Bob was a kind man who had a good heart. He cared strongly about his family and friends, and he adored his wife Joyce all his days on earth.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 7, 2025, from 3 – 5 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home at 1517 Market Ave North in Canton, Ohio. The funeral will be held at John Knox Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. Internment will be at the North Canton Cemetery following the funeral.
